East of the A14
If you travel north from Cambridge then on the right side of the A14 the landscape seems to have only slightly more height variation than a snooker table. The spot height for our street is 7 m above sea level although the sea is presently 70 km to the east. This is the start of the fens and a mixture of photographs that capture the essence of the fenland landscape.

Ash trees at first light
In the fens every tree has an important role as a provider of the third dimension (ie height). Certain trees become much loved and photographed because of their age and character. The ash on the right lost the top of the main trunk many years ago and certainly has a tale to tell. Taken looking towards Queenholme from Flat Bridge on 5 November 2020 in those last few minutes before the sun rises. Canon 5Diii and 24-105mm at 105 mm. Exposure 1/100 sec at f/6.3; ISO 100
