17 December 2015 - A southern fur seal pup looking over his sleeping mother on the beach in front of the BAS base at Bird Island, South Georgia

I have just returned from a trip to the Scotia Sea, taking in our base visits to Signy, Bird Island and King Edward Point, as well as undertaking our annual krill survey off South Georgia. Pictures from this trip should start arriving on the web site over the next couple of weeks. This picture was taken on the 29 November with 7Dii and 100-400mm at 400 mm. Exposure was 1/500 sec at f/5.6; ISO 160
