Year old wandering albatross learning to fly, Bird Island, South Georgia

Having been fed for a year on squid and having replaced his down for feathers, this young wandering albatross is ready to learn to fly. However much enthusiastic flapping of his wings translates to just a few seconds and only cms actually off the ground. Never mind practice will eventually pay off. Taken on 29 November 2015 at Wanderer Ridge, Bird Island, South Georgia. Canon 7Dii and 100-400mm at 142 mm. Exposure was 1/640 sec at f/5.6; ISO 100.
