Still another 1000 m to go; mooring deployment, Scotia Sea, Antarctic
The deep moorings have about 3,500 m of kevlar rope on them, stretching from the weights on the seabed to within 200 m of the surface. So in between attaching the instruments there is a lot of waiting and watching the winch wind out the rope. Taken on cruise JR304 on 30 November 2014 with Canon 5Diii and 17-40mm f/4 at 19 mm. Exposure was 1/30 sec at f/11; ISO 100
